To celebrate their 100th year in business, Stop & Shop asked their 200 store managers to solicit ideas for local worthy organizations.
Managers got feedback from employees. Each store then selected 1 charity or group.

Staples Tuition Grants initiates 70th Year With New Logo
Staples Tuition Grants, the private foundation that funds college scholarships, is marking its 70th year with an updated logo. The unveiling of the new logo coincides with the launch of STG's fundraising drive for the current academic year.
The new design retains the original's tree in full bloom — symbolizing the blossoming of youth through education — but uses a new type style and more condensed shape. The nonprofit's credo is that no Staples High School graduate should be denied a college education because of financial need. READ MORE

In the 1910s, Phil Schuyler joined the Canadian Royal Air Force. He was an American — a descendant, in fact, of Philip Schuyler, a general in the American Revolution and U.S. senator from New York — but the Canadians accepted 18-year-olds. He became a pilot, and crashed his Curtiss Jenny airplane into Lake Ontario. Schuyler enrolled in Harvard, graduated in 1921, and joined United Press Association — the forerunner of UPI — as a reporter. Working for various New York City dailies, he became friends with E.B. Providence-bound Lally overcomes adversity
Trevor Lally has overcome more than his fair share of adversity. One roadblock he faced was being sidelined with a right shoulder injury during his senior year but this tri-captain of the Staples boys swimming team before graduating in June didn't let it deter him and will be swimming for Providence College next year. NYC Marathoner Raises Money in Mother's Honor
Caitlin Frey O'Malley ran the NYC Marathon in her mother’s memory and raised $11,875 (and counting!) for the Staples Tuition Grant Committee. Sharon Frey, a Staples High School Alumna and past Staples Tuition Grant Committee Member valued the opportunity to provide students with scholarships in order to make their college dreams come true.
