What We Do

Thanks to generous donors each year, Staples Tuition Grants, (a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization) awards college and trade school tuition assistance grants, in amounts up to $6,000 per year, to Staples High School seniors and graduates with demonstrated financial need.

General donations to STG are used to fund Staples Tuition Grants Awards. Donations can also be made to a specific Named Award in honor of a special person.

All Staples Tuition Grants are awarded using strict need-based criteria. Both the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) metric and a variety of other measurements, including the family's expected contribution and number of dependent family members are used to calculate a student’s need-based grant qualifications. Need-based grants are more closely linked to family income and economic eligibility. These quantitative pieces, held in strict confidence, are added to the application, allowing STG to determine that the grant money provided is reaching the pool of Staples graduates who need it most.

The STG Board personally interviews every new applicant. Unlike many aid programs, STG is not a program for freshman-year only. STG recipients are invited to re-apply each year for a grant. STG is a strictly need-based operation for undergraduate use only and STG does not discriminate by school, whether public or private, vocational or academic, in-state or out.

STG announces grants at an award ceremony each June at Staples High School honoring student recipients and donors. Grants are given individually as Awards: Named Endowed, Named Annual and STG Awards. Awards are paid directly to the school and are for the purpose of tuition.
